Thanks for your continued patience as we plan to reopen MakerspaceCT on June 2nd, 2020. We are creating safety protocols and procedures to keep our community healthy while still supporting healthcare, innovation, workforce skills, and technology.

MakerspaceCT closed on March 17th, 2020, and immediately pivoted to make personal protective equipment (PPE). Every action we have taken embodies safety for our members and the Greater Hartford Community.  Our team is adhering to all CDC Guidelines adapting to a post-pandemic environment.

Now, following strict guidelines, we intend to reopen on June 2nd, 2020. COVID-19 has changed the landscape in ways we never thought were possible and opportunities for innovation are game-changers along with critical workforce development and “Upskill” classes. We are excited about getting back to MakerspaceCT to support our community needs…your projects….and our combined learning and creating!

Exciting programs on the horizon include:

  • Continued virtual learning opportunities, including workshops in Python, Blender, Mastercam, and much more.
  • Summer STEM programming for youth (ages 12-17) in July and August, which will include classes in VR, CAD Design, 3D Printing, Robotics, and Raspberry Pi.
  • A new CAD/Additive Readiness program that will introduce high school students to CAD (Computer-Aided Design) and additive manufacturing technology over a high-impact weekend learning program.

While the coronavirus crisis temporarily put a hold on our community “Making”, our mission remains constant: positively impacting lives by enabling access, innovation, and education.

To all of our members and volunteers, thank you for helping us pivot making face shields in response to the global PPE shortage. Because of your hard work, donations and support, the effort has been a huge success. We could use more PPE assembly volunteers please sign up at this link.

Governor Lamont recently released guidelines for the first phase of Connecticut’s reopening, which will begin on May 20th. MakerspaceCT is an eligible business under this plan.

Our staff is working to ensure that the proper protocols are in place to keep you healthy and safe as we return to MakerspaceCT. Specific safety protocols are in development and will be shared with you before the reopening date.

These protocols will be informed by the State of Connecticut’s operational guidance for reopening, which is available at this link. New rules will be in place for our facility including: updated arrival and sign-in procedures, cleaning and disinfection processes, social distancing practices, personal protection protocols (face masks, gloves, etc) and specific occupancy limits.

All new procedural details will be published and a complete orientation on these procedures will be required when returning to MakerspaceCT.

We are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for everyone who enters our space so that you can continue to create projects and learn new skills.

To our members:

Thank you for staying with us, we are grateful for your support during these uncharted times.

All memberships will resume June 2nd. MakerspaceCT will be adjusting monthly billing and/or resetting renewal dates based on the 11 week period we were closed due to COVID-19. For our members that continued to make their monthly membership payments during the closure, your membership will be extended by 11 weeks.  Memberships that are on a yearly or quarterly plan (Founder’s Circle, corporate memberships, Innovation Cohort, MakeHartford, etc.), your memberships will be adjusted to account for the 11 weeks, as well.

If you still have concerns accessing the space now that we are reopening, please let us know and we will address individual circumstances as-needed.

Working together, we will have a successful reopening that protects everyone’s safety. Please stay tuned for detailed guidance and instructions. We look forward to seeing you back at MakerspaceCT beginning June 2nd.

Thank you,
